Ukraine and the European Union have initialed their association agreement. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this in a statement.
“Today, the heads of the negotiating delegations of Ukraine and the European Union initialed the text of the association agreement, an integral part of which will be establishment of a deep and comprehensive free trade area,” the heads of the delegations said in a joint statement issued in Brussels (Belgium) on Friday.

The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine expects that an Agreement on Association between Ukraine and the European Union will be initialed till the end of March.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, head of the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Oleksandr Dikusarov said this at the press conference today.
“Systemic deficiencies in the functioning of the Ukrainian judicial system seriously hinder the enjoyment of human rights. The authorities should take resolute steps to better address these problems” said today the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Thomas Hammarberg, upon publishing a report based on the findings of his visit to Ukraine from 19 to 26 November 2011.

President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych says that the only obstacle on a way of the European integration of Ukraine is “issue of ex Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko”.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, the head of the state said this during his speech at the business-lunch organized within a framework of the 48th Munich Security Conference.
Ukraine sees its future in the European Union and seeks to become a full-fledged EU member, President Viktor Yanukovych said at a session of the World Economic Forum titled “The Future of Eurasia.”
The President said that EU membership is crucial for democracy, economic prosperity, personal freedoms and well-being of every citizen of Ukraine.
